Quick start
From a Pro Tools marker export to a running show. Ten minutes, once.
From marker export to Show Mode
Import your markers
File → Import Markers (⌘I), or drag the exported
.txtonto the All Markers header. The status bar tells you how many came in. The export needs to contain a “MARKERS LISTING” section. No other editing is required.Create a group
Click Create Group and name it. Create Multiple makes a batch from a base name and a count.
Add markers to it
Drag from All Markers into the group, or right-click a marker → Add to Group. The “+” button searches and inserts at the current selection.
Reorder
Drag, or use Move Up / Move Down (⌘↑ / ⌘↓). Dragging between groups asks whether to add or move.
Save the session
File → Save. Sessions are
.jsonfiles. Use Save Session Bundle As when you need to carry the show and its video media to another machine.Build the show
Create a Super Group and add your groups in running order. Every view stays in sync.
Follow your DAW
On Pro Tools, put the Setlist Organiser Panel plug-in on a track. The four steps are below. On another DAW, open the MTC Timecode tab, pick a port and click Connect, or click Create Virtual Port and set your DAW's MTC generator to “Setlist Organiser MTC”.
Link the session
File → Link Pro Tools Session. From then on, opening the show opens the Pro Tools session with it.
Map a controller
MIDI tab → Edit Controller Mappings, and learn the actions you want: play/stop, next/previous marker, next/previous group, panic stop, view switching. Save it as a profile per device.
Run it
⌘⇧F for Show Mode. Arrow keys step markers, space plays and stops, and Lock is on by default.
Get the app following Pro Tools
The panel plug-in is the fastest way. No MIDI or timecode setup.
Open the app
The Setlist Organiser Panel plug-in ships inside the app and installs itself into Pro Tools when the app launches. If it does not, go to Settings ▸ DAW ▸ Pro Tools Panel Plug-in ▸ Install.
Quit and reopen Pro Tools
Pro Tools only looks for new plug-ins when it starts, so do this once.
Insert the plug-in
Put “Setlist Organiser Panel” on any track. It is in the Other category, mono or stereo. From then on the app follows Pro Tools, even with Pro Tools in the background, as long as the app is running.
Press Play
The app moves with Pro Tools straight away.
Can't use the plug-in?
Use timecode instead. The app sets up its own “Setlist Organiser MTC” port for you. In Pro Tools, choose Setup ▸ Peripherals… ▸ Synchronization and set MTC Generator to “Setlist Organiser MTC”.
In the app, Help ▸ DAW Setup Assistant… walks through the same steps and ticks each one off as it works.
